Sovaldi™ (sofosbuvir) and Hepatitis C
When is Sovaldi™ contraindicated?
The same contraindications that pertain to peginterferon and ribavirin also apply to the Sovaldi™ combination treatment. This combination treatment is contraindicated in pregnant women or those that may become pregnant as well as men whose female partner is pregnant, due to the risks for birth defects and fetal death associated with ribavirin.
The following chart provides information regarding potentially significant drug interactions with Sovaldi™ (the table is not all-inclusive). Alteration in dose or regimen may be recommended based on drug interaction studies or predicted interactions. While the following drugs were evaluated in clinical trials, it was determined that no dose adjustment was need when used in combination Sovaldi as they are without clinically significant interactions:
- cyclosporine
- darunavir/ritonavir
- efavirenz
- emtricitabine
- methadone
- raltegravir
- rilpivirine
- tacrolimus
- tenofovir disoproxil fumarate
