Zepatier (elbasvir and grazoprevir)
What is the dosage for Zepatier?
According to the manufacturer of Zepatier, there are various dosage regimens and durations.
Prior to treatment:
- For patients with genotype 1a, it is recommended that testing be performed to determine the presence of the virus with NS5A resistance-associated polymorphisms.
- In clinical trials, 1% of subjects experienced elevations of ALT from normal levels to greater than 5 times the upper limit of normal. Therefore, it is recommended that hepatic laboratory testing be performed prior to starting treatment, at treatment week 8, and then as clinically necessary.
Dosage regimens and durations:
- Genotype 1a patients that are treatment-naïve or peginterferon alfa + ribavirin-experienced without baseline NS5A polymorphisms should take Zepatier for 12 weeks.
- Genotype 1a patients that are treatment-naïve or peginterferon alfa + ribavirin-experienced with baseline NS5A polymorphisms should take Zepatier with ribavirin for 16 weeks.
- Genotype 1b patients that are treatment-naïve or peginterferon alfa + ribavirin-experienced should take Zepatier for 12 weeks.
- Genotype 1a or 1b patients that are peginterferon alfa + ribavirin +HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitor-experienced should take Zepatier with ribavirin for 12 weeks.
- Genotype 4 patients that are treatment-naïve patients should take Zepatier for 12 weeks.
- Genotpye 4 patients that are peginterferon alfa + ribavirin-experienced should take Zepatier with ribavirin for 16 weeks.
